At the May KCMN meeting, members came together for an engaging conversation focused on the evolving landscape of workforce strategy. As employers continue to navigate a competitive labor market, the session centered on rethinking traditional approaches to recruiting and retaining top talent.

Moderated as an open discussion, the panel provided a space for members to explore practical strategies and share lessons learned from the field. Rather than offering one-size-fits-all solutions, the panelists emphasized the importance of adaptability, innovation, and intentional leadership when addressing workforce challenges.

  • Communication Innovation: Organizations are rethinking how they connect with job seekers, using a variety of channels to increase engagement and broaden outreach. 

  • Flexible Scheduling: Even in traditionally rigid environments like manufacturing, panelists noted growing interest and success with implementing flexible work schedules to better align with employee needs. 

  • Employee Wellness: Onsite healthcare services were discussed as a proactive approach to improving both employee retention and overall well-being. 

  • Community Workforce Partnerships: Collaboration with organizations such as Workforce Partnership (Kansas) and the Full Employment Council (Missouri) was highlighted as a valuable tool for expanding recruitment pipelines and strengthening workforce readiness.
