UpLink and KCMN Announce Partnership

Kansas City Manufacturing Network is proud to announce its partnership with UpLink. UpLink is Kansas City’s community hub connecting the workplace to the classroom to further students’ academic skills and interests in the areas of math, engineering, technology and science. The partnership was initiated as a response to requests by KCMN members to reach out and engage the next generation of manufacturers. UpLink will facilitate KCMN member involvement in opportunities to work directly with students in schools near their company locations or homes, and promote KCMN as a partner organization.

About UpLink

UpLink (www.uplinkthefuture.org) partners with area businesses to deliver inviting, empowering educational experiences for students and teachers using an innovative system of tools, training and technology. The program offers many opportunities, from classroom speakers to teacher externships, student internships, job shadows and one-on-one mentoring. UpLink was developed by YouthFriends (www.youthfriends.org), now in its 13th year of connecting students with mentors in the Greater Kansas City area. The UpLink program is part of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation’s long-term, multi-faceted approach to help Kansas City become a model for outstanding math and science education.
